A new poll suggests that
financial advisors are too afraid to deal with their clients
during life's critical moments, yet these critical moments are
key to financial success.
The most difficult of these
times are when people are dealing with immature children,
previous marriages, death of a spouse, differing spousal
views on financial matters, uneasy retirement or children
from multiple relationships, a recent poll by The Dow Jones
Wealth Management Advisory Council shows.
These are topics long
considered "taboo" by the financial-planning
community.
While the financial planning
community is trying to change this attitude, it will take
time. In the interim, when you are dealing with one of these
critical moments, call your financial advisor for advice. If
he or she can't help, it might be time to start shopping for
someone new to help with your financial planning.
